An independent developer’s little corner

Welcome to the House of Joy

WebGames.fun is a browser-game site maintained by one interest-driven independent developer. It is home to recreations of games I love, small experiments, playful self-checks, and original projects that may take much longer to grow.

Why call it the “House of Joy”?

The motivation behind this site is simple: joy.

Before the vibe-coding era, recreating a game I loved meant studying its rules myself: what a click should trigger, how the state should change, and how all those pieces of logic should fit together. Thinking it through, then turning that understanding into a working program, brought a very particular kind of joy.

Today, AI is no longer merely a programming copilot. It can understand and implement more and more of a game’s core logic directly, so I no longer need to personally unpack and write every detail. Honestly, some of the joy that belonged to that process has faded.

But AI has also made it much faster to turn an idea into a playable game. That leaves me more energy for the experience itself: what feels awkward, what could be more fun, whether the pace should be faster or slower, and which details I want to change simply because I prefer them that way.

The old joy was often: “I finally understand how this works.” The new joy is: “I can finally make it feel the way I want.”

Making games I want to play

Testing is joyful too. For me, testing a game is not only checking whether it works; it is playing it again and again. If something feels wrong, I can change it. If a more interesting idea appears, I can try it. I do not need to persuade anyone or wait for approval. The freedom to shape a game around my own taste is joyful in itself.

The same is true of the small self-checks on this site. The process of trying them, adjusting them and observing the results is itself a form of play. They are made for curiosity and personal reflection, not for diagnosis or judgment.

Passing the joy along

Eventually I began putting these games online. When someone opens a page, plays a round, or even comes back another day, it feels as if a little of my joy has reached someone else.

This site may never have the most games, and updates may not always be fast. Some projects are only small ideas; others may be polished slowly into something larger. But I hope everything placed here has carried a real moment of creative joy.

If that joy can travel through a web page and be felt by someone else, then this House of Joy has a reason to exist.

About the developer

I am the independent developer behind WebGames.fun. I make these games in my own time, led mainly by curiosity and by the desire to build things I would want to play myself.

My Xiaohongshu currently focuses on Cat Tycoon. In the future it may also feature larger projects with longer development cycles. The smaller games and experiments on this site will not necessarily receive their own posts—they are more like little toys that quietly appear around the House of Joy.
